Privacy Policy

The short version

Your scripts are yours. We store them so you can write, sync, and collaborate — we don't sell them, mine them, train AI models on them, or show them to anyone you haven't invited. Hotplot's mentor never writes into your script, and your pages are never used to train anything.

Who we are

Hotplot is operated by Soleil Works, New York, USA. Contact: san@soleil-works.com. For writers in the EU/EEA, Soleil Works acts as data controller under the GDPR.

What we collect

• Account data — email address, display name, and (if you sign in with Google) your Google account email and profile basics.
• Your work — scripts, versions, comments, direct messages between collaborators, music cue links, and notes the mentor keeps for you (all readable and deletable by you).
• Usage records — when you use AI features, we log token counts and cost so we can enforce fair-use limits. We log which features are used, not keystrokes.
• Waitlist emails — if you leave your email on our landing page, we store it to send you product updates.

Who processes it

We run on Supabase (database, authentication, hosted in the EU region where available) and Vercel (application hosting). When you talk to the mentor, the relevant script context is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate the response; under Anthropic's commercial API terms, your content is not used to train their models. Music playback is embedded from YouTube, which applies its own terms once you interact with a player.

Your rights

You can export your scripts (PDF or Fountain) at any time, delete scripts, mentor notes, comments, and messages from within the app, and request full account deletion or a copy of your data by emailing us. EU/EEA residents additionally have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, portability, and objection under the GDPR, including the right to complain to their local supervisory authority.

Practicalities

We use only the cookies required to keep you signed in — no advertising trackers. Data is retained while your account is active and deleted with it. If this policy changes materially, we'll email account holders before the change takes effect.
